Xenis Sachinis

Bio

Born in 1954, in Thessaloniki. From 1973 to 1978 he studied Printmaking and Stage Design at the Athens School of Fine Arts and graduated cum Laude. From 1981 to 1985 he continued his studies at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1986 he was elected a member of the Special Scientific Teaching Staff in the department of Decorative and Applied Arts at the Thessaloniki School of Fine Arts, where he did workshops on Drawing and Printmaking. Since May 1997 he has been an Associate Professor and Head of the Printmaking workshop in the Department of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki. Also in 1997, he founded with Manolis Giannadakis a Printmaking Research Centre and Workshop in the old factory of "Helios" in Neapoli, Thessaloniki. He has given many lectures, has taught in Printmaking seminars in France and has collaborated with several New York workshops. He has participated in the 3rd and the 4th 'Impact' International Print Conference. His work can be found in the Greek National Gallery, the Tellogleio Foundation in Thessaloniki, the Vorres Museum in Athens, and in the Municipal Galleries of Athens and Thessaloniki, as well as in the Antoniou collection, the Institute of Macedonian Studies collection, the Thessaloniki French Institute collection and in the Fiorina and S. Tsoukali Museum of Modern Art. He has also shown his work in several solo and group exhibitions, in Greece and abroad.
