Tzeni Markakis

Biographical Note

Born in Athens, in 1939. She has studied Printmaking (1961-1965) and the Art Books (1964-1966, with honours) in the Athens' School of Fine Arts, under state scholarship and with Kostas Grammatopoulos as her teacher in both fields. Since 1967 she has always been an active participant in the art scene, with six individual shows and many participations in numerous group exhibitions in Greece and abroad (like international exhibitions in Poland, Romania, Portugal and elsewhere). Samples of her work are to be found in the Greek Ministry of Culture, in the Municipal Galleries of Athens and of Rhodes, in the Galleries of Corfu and of the city of Heracleion in Crete, in the Cultural Centre of Agia Paraskevi and in the Prefecture of Arcadiaas well as in private collections in Greece, England, USA and Italy. She is also a book illustrator and she has designed several posters, leaflets and book covers. She is an active member of the Greek Chamber of Fine Arts, as well as a founding and active member of the Greek Printmakers Association.
